Qualifications: Ph.D. in Economics (Public Finance, Monetary Theory and Policy, and International Finance) and M.Sc. in Policy Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA; MA in Economics with Finance, and Advanced Diploma in Advanced Studies in Economic Development from the University of Manchester, England; B.Soc.Sc (Honours) in Economics and B.Soc.Sc in Economics with Mathematics from the University of Malawi.

Career: Dr Mkwezalamba has served in Malawi and the United States of America (USA) in various capacities, including: Lecturer and Head of Economics, University of Malawi; Research Fellow, University of Cornell, Ithaca, New York, USA; Team Member (Macroeconomics), Malawi Vision 2020 Project; Chief Economist and Coordinator for Advisory Services for Private Business Promotion, Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry; Macroeconomist/ Country Economist, World

Bank, Malawi Country Office; Principal Secretary (Economic Affairs), Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Malawi; and Commissioner for Economic Affairs at African Union Commission (AUC) since 2004.
