COMMISSIONER FOR PEACE AND SECURITY
 
Nationality: Algerian

Date and Place of Birth: June, 15th 1952 at Amizour, Béjaia. Algeria

Qualifications: National School of Administration, Diplomatic Section

Career: Mr. Lamamra has been in the diplomatic service for 32 years.
He served as Ambassador of Algeria to many countries, including Portugal, 
USA, Austria, and Ethiopia and Djibouti. He served as Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, and to UNIDO. He has also been Algerian ambassador to the United Nations in New York, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), and to the then Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in Addis Ababa. 

From 1st August 2005 until 7 July 2007 he was the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria.

Marital Status: Married with one child.
