COMMISSIONER FOR TRADE AND INDUSTRY

Date and Place of Birth: 29 February1944, Yabassi, Cameroon

Qualifications: Trained as an Economist at the University of Paris I.

Career: Mrs. Tankeu served her country as Minister of Planning and Regional Integration from 1988 to 1990.She held two Vice Ministerial posts from 1983 to 1988.Prior to holding ministerial positions, she was Director of Planning. She has experience in many diverse areas such as long-range planning, development policies (macroeconomic management, finance and sector-based policies, financial set up of socio-economic infrastructure
projects, co-operation for development, poverty reduction strategies, environmental and gender issues)

Since 2003 Mrs Tankeu was Commissioner for Trade and Industry of the AUC. In February 2008, she has been reelected to the same position by the AU Summit.
