H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) will be convening a Forum of the Africa against Ebola Solidarity Trust Fund (AAESTF), African private sector and International partners, during the first week of September 2019.
At the invitation of H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), the Eighth General Cooperation Meeting between the African Union Commission and the League of Arab States (LAS) was held on 22 July 2019 at the headquarters of the AUC in Addis Ababa, under the co-chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of AUC and H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, with the participation of senior officials from both organizations.
H.E. Kwesi Quartey, Deputy Chairperson of AUC, has received a team of 10 Recruitment Experts selected from the 5 Regional Blocs to help develop and revamp the recruitment system for the Commission. The meeting took place today, 22 July 2019, in his office at the AU Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The aim of the exercise is to help the AU retain high-quality African talent to push through the Agenda 2063.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 19 July 2019- The African Union (AU) is to deploy more members of the African Voluntary Health Corps (AVoHC) to support the response to the Ebola virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the second largest outbreak in the history of Ebola since it was discovered in 1976.
