H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The Chairperson received the credentials of Ms. Doris Mpoumou, new Special Representative of UN Women to the AU. The Chair and the Special Representative engaged at length on the important role UN Women plays in ensuring gender equality and empowerment of girls and women.
The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the African Union, H.E. Jung Kang, paid a courtesy call to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission. Amb. Jung congratulated the Chairperson on his election and hoped that the RoK and the AU can continue to build on their strong relationship under his mandate. The Chairperson thanked the Amb. Republic of Korea’s unwavering engagement on the Continent.
A four-day intensive training on Gender Responsive Education Sector Planning (GRESP) is currently underway in Antananarivo from 17th to 20th June 2025. The workshop, organised by the African Union International Centre for Girls and Women’s Education in Africa (AU CIEFFA), aims to strengthen the capacity of AU CIEFFA ministry focal points in education sector planning.
