Addis Ababa, 9 October 2017: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Moussa Faki Mahamat, urges all political stakeholders in Liberia to ensure a democratic, credible and peaceful electoral process, in conformity with the 2007 African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance, as the country heads to the polls on 10 October 2017.

Moussa Faki Mahamat is delighted to note that the 23 August 2017 General Election marked an important milestone in the history of Republic of Angola. Once again, the people of the Angola have demonstrated their resolve for continuous search for democratic and participatory governance in their country.
It is with deep shock that the chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Moussa Faki Mahamat, has learnt of the catastrophic mudslides that killed more than 300 people and left hundreds more destitute on the outskirts of Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown.
"My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones. The entire AU family stands united with the people and government of Sierra Leone during this difficult time," said the Chairperson.

Addis Ababa, 12 August 2017: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AU) Moussa Faki Mahamat takes note of the official announcement of the final results of the presidential election in Kenya on 11 August 2017 by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) following the General Elections on 8 August 2017, which were deemed credible and transparent by all observer missions, including the one deployed by the AU. He calls on all those who wish to challenge these results to do so through the channels provided for by the law.

This dastardly act happened a week ahead of the Kenyan general elections planned for 8 August 2017.
