ANNOUNCEMENT TO JOURNALISTS
Online Accreditation for the 16th AU Summit Available
The Division of Communication and Information (DCI) hereby informs journalists that an online accreditation facility for the coverage of the 16th African Union Summit has been made available at the following link: http://au.int/en/summit/16thsummit/accreditation .
Journalists who are interested in covering the Summit are kindly requested to urgently submit their online application for accreditation before January 15 2011.Journalists should also note that all necessary arrangements will be made to enable them work in a suitable environment. However, only journalists who have been accredited will be allowed to cover the event and use the facilities put in place to assist them.
Journalists are also reminded to note that there will be a dual accreditation process for the summit. The African Union will issue the conference badges, while the Ethiopian authorities will issue the security badge. Both badges are required to gain entry into the premises of the Summit and the meeting rooms for coverage of the official opening and closing sessions.

Main Events:
- 24-25 January 2011: 21st Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC);
- 27 - 28 January 2011: 18th Session of the Executive Council;
- 30 - 31 January 2011: 16th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union.
Venues:
The 21st Session of the PRC and the 18th Session of Executive Council will take place at the African Union Headquarters, while the 16th Assembly of Heads of State and Government will be held at the Conference Center of United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNCC - ECA).

AFRICAN UNION PREPARES AHEAD OF THE 2011 AFRICAN UNION SUMMIT
Media representatives are hereby informed that the next Ordinary Session of the decision-making organs of the African Union (AU) is scheduled to take place from 25 – 31st January 2011, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Theme of Summit:
"Towards Greater Unity and Integration through Shared Values"
Main Events:
1. 24-25 January 2011: 21st Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC).
