African Union COVID19 Response Fund aims to raise $1 Million on Africa Day
The African Union has created an African Union COVID-19 Response Fund with the aim of strengthening the continental response to COVID-19 and mitigate its socio economic and humanitarian impact on African populations. The fund was established by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Mr Moussa Faki Mahamat on 26 March 2020.
Virtual Peer-Learning Consultative Meeting of African Elections Management Bodies on COVID-19 and Elections in Africa
Addis Ababa, 22 May 2020: The Department of Political Affairs (DPA) of the African Union Commission (AUC) will convene a virtual consultative meeting of African Election Management Bodies (EMBs ) on 27 May 2020 from 15h00-18h30 East African Time on the COVID-19 pandemic and elections in Africa. The virtual meeting will be presided by H.E Amb. Minata Samate Cessouma, Commissioner for Political Affairs and will be convened in collaboration with the Association of African Electoral Authorities (AAEA) and Regional Economic Communities’ networks of EMBs.
Africa Continental Day of Prayer and Call to Action to Counter the Covid-19 pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all Africans regardless of regional and national borders, age, creed, political and social status. As such, it is necessary that it is countered by a unified global family. The African Day of Prayer will be an opportunity to come together, to rededicate efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, to pray for protection for those at the frontlines of this fight, and to seek the wisdom needed to emerge victors.
