Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 7 October 2019: Representatives from African Union (AU) Member States officials, continental organizations for persons with disabilities, refugees, returnees and Internally Displace Persons (IDPs) with disabilities, disability federations, universities, rehabilitation experts and practitioners, policy makers, and civil society organizations are gathered today on the occasion of the 7th Africa Forum on Visual Impairment in Addis Ababa.

AU-PATTEC organized a regional training workshop for French speaking central Africa countries on application of open source GIS in Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis projects in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the AU HQs, from 24- 28 June 2019. The training workshop was attended by participants (data management officers) from Angola, Cameroon, Central Africa, Chad, DRC, Congo-Brazaville, Ethiopia and Gabon who are currently responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing and map preparation of T&T data for PATTEC projects. The Champion of the African Union(AU) theme of the year, H.E.Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasongo, President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea visited Tsore Refugee Camp, Asosa, Benishangul - Gumuz region in the Western part of Ethiopia as part of the activities lined-up visibility to forced to commemorate with with refugees, the 50th Anniversary of the adoption of the 1969 OAU Convention on Refugees.
