Highlights for the media include:

• Statement by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and Chairperson of the Executive Council

There will be a group photo for Ministers, together with Members of the Commission. Then the Ministers will proceed to the Closed Session.

Where: African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Who:  The Executive Council Session will be opened in the presence of the leadership and officials of the AU Commission, Ministers from the 55 AU Member States, officials of AU organs and offices and partners.

Objectives:

The 22^nd Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council will consider the report on the preparation for the election of senior leadership of the African Union Commission in February 2025.
