Signing ceremony – memorandum of understanding between the african union commission and faith-based organisations

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 14 March 2013- At an official signing ceremony held today, the African Union Commission (AUC) and three Faith-Based Organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the headquarters of the African Union.

All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), The Beza International Ministries (BMI), and the African Council of religious leaders-Religions for Peace (ACRL-RfP) participated in the ceremony guided by the common vision of a united and strong Africa and the need to build partnerships with all non-state actors.

Aiming to strengthen cooperation between the Commission and religious leaders, the MoU will focus on the different issues related to peace and security, good governance, justice and democracy to name a few.

The Representatives of the Faith-based organisations reminded that the vision of the African Union Commission and the aspiration of religious institutions is highly interlinked, making it easier and at the same important to work together for a people centric approach that will not affect the sensitivity and diversity of citizens.

After brief statements from each party representative a family photo was taken to conclude the ceremony with all the participants.
