Addis Ababa, 22 March 2021: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, continues to monitor the developments in Somalia ahead of today's planned National Consultative Forum meeting to resolve the electoral impasse.
While the Chairperson is encouraged by the arrival in Mogadishu of leaders from all the Federal Member States, as well as other stakeholders, he is gravely concerned at reports that the meeting could take place without the participation all the FMS Presidents.

The 34th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union is being held today in a very special context.
Addis Ababa, 6 February 2021: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat welcomes the results of the vote by Libyan delegates of the United Nations-facilitated Libyan Political Dialogue (LPDF) that elected a transitional government authority to prepare and oversee national elections scheduled for 24 December 2021 in Libya.
The Chairperson wished to warmly congratulate the members of the new interim authority and encourages all stakeholders to support this historic step in the future for a new unified Libya.
The African Union (AU) Commission and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) today kicked off a year-long project, “AU at 20: A Renewed Call to Action for the 21st Century”, to mark the 20th anniversary since the establishment of the AU. Endorsed by the Chairperson of the AU Commission, His Excellency Moussa Faki Mahamat, the project will undertake a data-driven study to assess progress and chart a renewed call to action towards achieving Agenda 2063 (The Africa We Want) and the UN’s Agenda 2030.

Moussa Faki Mahamat est vivement préoccupé par l’évolution de la situation politique et sécuritaire en République centrafricaine et condamne avec la plus grande fermeté la recrudescence des actes de violence dans certaines régions du pays ayant occasionné des pertes en vies humaines et visant à perturber le processus électoral en cours. Il condamne par ailleurs, toute collusion entre certains acteurs politiques et des groupes armés.
