FIRST MID-YEAR COORDINATION MEETING OF AU AND RECS
AND
12TH EXTRAORDINARY SUMMIT ON AFCFTA

4th - 8th July 2019, Niamey, Niger

ONLINE ACCREDITATION FOR JOURNALISTS NOW AVAILABLE

The Directorate of Information and Communication (DIC) of the African Union Commission (AUC) hereby announces that the online accreditation process for journalists to facilitate the media coverage of the First Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the AU and RECs, and the 12th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union on AfCFTA, scheduled to take place from 4th to 8th July 2019, in Niamey, Niger, has been launched on the AU website: www.au.int.

Journalists interested in covering the upcoming First AU-RECs Mid-Year Coordination Meeting as well as the 12th Extraordinary Summit on AfCFTA should register through the following link: https://au.int/summit/accreditation

A media advisory note explaining all the detail arrangements for media coverage of the events will be posted soon on the AU web site: https://au.int/summit/coordination/1

Meanwhile representatives of the media are kindly informed that the mid-year coordination meeting is scheduled to take place as follows:

17-18 June 2019: 38th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

4th - 5th July 2019: 35th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, Niamey Niger

7th July 2019: 12th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the Union on African Continental Free Trader Area (AfCFTA), Niamey, Niger

8th July 2019: First Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities (RECs)

The theme of the year is: “Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons: Towards Durable Solutions to Forced Displacement in Africa”

Journalists are invited to cover all the public sessions open to the media.

A detail program of the side events, the extraordinary session on AfCFTA as well as the statutory meetings during the AU-RECs Coordination Meeting will be made available subsequently.
