The African Union Economic Social and Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC) has urged the African populace to get vaccinated if herd immunity is to be achieved. Currently, only three percent of Africa’s population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19!
African experts have convened in Lusaka to deliberate on regional priorities in preparation for the 2020 Africa-France Summit, billed for 4-6 June 2020 in Bordeaux, France on the theme of “Better Cities, Better Lives” co-hosted by the African Union Commission, the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).

Within the framework of PATTEC initiative the PATTEC Coordination Office is mandated to monitor and evaluate the implementation progress made by member states towards tsetse and trypanosomiasis control and eradication. In line with this, a situation analysis mission to evaluate the implementation of tsetse and trypanosomiasis control interventions comprising Dr. Gift Wiseman Wanda, Acting Coordinator of the Pan African Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis (T&T) Eradication Campaign (PATTEC), and Mr Girma Urgeacha, GIS database specialist was undertaken to Zambia from 10 to 14 June 2019.

The AUC through the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), has been supporting countries to implement the decisions of the AU 2014 Malabo Declaration on Africa Accelerated Agricultural Growth and Transformation (3AGT), by domesticating them into country specific National Agriculture Investment plans.
