        Niamey, 14 February 2016: Following the invitation by the Government of the Republic of Niger, the Chairperson of the AUC has decided to deploy an Electoral Observation Mission (AUEOM) to the 2016 Parliamentary and Presidential Elections in that country. The mission will be led by His Excellency Jean Eyeghé Ndong, Former Prime Minister of the Republic of Gabon.

        H.E. Jean Eyeghé Ndong will be leading a team of forty (40) Short Term Observers (STO) drawn from the Pan-African Parliament, members of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) of the African Union, African Election Management Bodies and African Civil Society Organisations.

        H.E. Jean Eyeghé Ndong is expected to arrive in Niamey on February 16 2016. As part of his mission, he will meet among others, the different electoral candidates as well as stakeholders involved in the electoral process. He will additionally oversee the effective deployment of the AUOEM and observe the implementation of the Republic of Niger’s electoral law as well as other International Instruments governing elections.

        H.E. Jean Eyeghé Ndong will present the preliminary conclusions of the AUEOM on Tuesday February 23 2016 at the Soluxe Hotel in Niamey, Niger.

        Niamey, 14 Février 2016: Suite à l’invitation du gouvernement de la République du Niger, la Présidente de la Commission de la CUA a décidé de déployer une Mission d’Observation Electorale (MOEUA) aux élections Législatives et Présidentielle du 21 février 2016 dans ce pays. La mission sera dirigée par Son Excellence Monsieur Jean Eyeghé Ndong, ancien Premier Ministre de la République du Gabon.

        S.E. Jean Eyeghé Ndong sera à la tête d’une équipe de quarante (40) Observateurs de Court Terme (OCT) composé de parlementaires panafricains, d’ambassadeurs auprès de l’UA, de responsables des organismes de gestion des élections en Afrique ainsi que des membres de la société civile africaine.

        S.E. Jean Eyeghé Ndong est attendu à Niamey le 16 février 2016. Dans le cadre de sa mission, il rencontrera entre autres, les différents candidats ainsi que les parties prenantes impliquées dans le processus électoral. Il supervisera également le déploiement effectif de la MOEUA et observera la mise en oeuvre de la loi électorale de la République du Niger ainsi que les autres instruments internationaux régissant les élections.

        S.E. Jean Eyeghé Ndong présentera les conclusions préliminaires de la MOEUA le mardi 23 février 2016 à l’hôtel Soluxe, de Niamey, au Niger.
