The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Receives the Credentials of the Permanent Representative of Tanzania

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Dr. Jean Ping received in his office at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa on Monday, 24 January 2011, the credentials of H.E. Dr. Joram Mukama Biswaro, the new Permanent Representative of the United Republic of Tanzania to the African Union.

Welcoming the new Permanent Representative, the Chairperson extended his profound appreciation to H.E. President Jakaya Kikwete for his unwavering support and outstanding working relationship with the Commission, and requested Ambassador Biswaro to convey to President Kikwete and his Government the gratitude and highest regards of the Commission for Tanzania’s tremendous contributions to the promotion of the goals and ideals of the AU and her constructive involvement in facilitating the work of the Commission.

The Chairperson assured the new Permanent Representative of the full support and cooperation of the Commission in the discharge of his new responsibilities.

In response, the new Permanent Representative thanked Dr. Ping for his warm welcome and promised to do all in his power to maintain and reinforce the excellent relations that exist between Tanzania and the AUC.

The Chairperson and the Permanent Representative exchanged views on several topical issues of mutual interest, including the16th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, which is scheduled to take place on 30-31 January 2011, at the Conference Center of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the theme: “Towards Greater Unity and Integration through Shared Values”.
