15:00 -15:15     Opening Remarks
                            Jean Ping, chairperson of the AUC Commission
                            Obiageli  Ezekwesili, Vice President for Africa, World Bank

15:15-15:45    Overview of Political Situation
                           Dissuasion of political developments on the continent and the position of 
                           the AU.  Particular focus on Cote d’ivoire, Sudan, Tunisia, Guinea,     
                           Madagascar, Zimbabwe.  

15:45-16:00    Update on WB Africa Strategy
                          The new WB Africa Region strategy represents a changed approach to 
                           development on the continent and the World Bank’s role in supporting it.
                           The strategy focuses on broad themes of competitiveness and    
                           unemployment, vulnerability and resilience, and governance and public
                           sector capacity.

16:00-16:45    AUC Strategic Framework and institutional Capacity
                          Presentation of the AUC’s plan to build capacity to deliver effectively on its
                         strategic objectives and discussion of the potential role of partnership with
                         WB.

16:45 -17:15    Current Global Issues and Africa
                           Discussion of the G-20 agenda and Africa, rising food prices and climate
                           change.

17:15 – 17:45    Disaster Risk Management
                             The AUC, WFP and WB are collaborating on the creation of a Pan African
                             disaster risk pool to help African governments access contingent funding
                             to respond to drought –related food insecurity. The discussion would
                             focus on progress to date, outstanding issues, and next steps.

17:45 – 18:30    Progress Review of AUC-Africa Region Collaboration
                            Update on collaboration in core areas of the AUC-WB MoU, infrastructure
                            and agriculture; key lessons for strengthening results and effectiveness
                            of the collaboration, and next steps and new areas for collaboration,
                            including in governance, agribusiness, trade and partnership on a study
                            of Brazil-Africa relations being conducted by AFR
