African Union Congratulates US President-Elect, Donald Trump
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 9 November 2016: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), H.E. Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has congratulated President-Elect of the United States of America (USA), Mr. Donald John Trump, on his election as next President of the United States of America. President-Elect Donald Trump emerged victorious following a heavily contested 58th Quadrennial U.S. presidential election, which was held on 8 November 2016.
The Chairperson of the AU Commission congratulates the people of the United States of America for having exercised their democratic right in voting peacefully to elect their president.
As President-Elect Trump takes on this honourable and responsible function, the African Union (AU) looks forward to continued cooperation between AU Member States and the government of the United States of America, in the interests of a peaceful and just world.
