H.E. Smaїl Chergui is an Algerian diplomat, born on 4 September 1956. He was re-elected as the African Union Commission Commissioner for Peace and Security after his four years mandate. Ambassador Chergui has over 30 years’ experience working with the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Algeria, and more than 20 years at post of high responsibility. He has vast experience in the management of Pan African affairs, particularly in the capacity as Ambassador and Permanent representative of Algeria.
