INVITATION TO THE MEDIA REPRESENTATIVES

What: The African Union, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) are organizing a virtual Continental event to mark the World Day against Child Labour. The event will bring together key actors, who will discuss strategies to address child labour, taking a holistic and systemic approach also based on the 2020 Global Estimates on Child Labour and related recommendations, which had been launched by the ILO and UNICEF on 10 June.

Speakers will include:

 H.E. Amira El Fadil, African Union Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development

 Ms Cynthia Samuel-Olonjuwon, ILO Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Africa

 Dr. Edward Addai, UNICEF Representative to the African Union and Economic Commission to Africa

 Ms. Brenda Kisaka, Advocate against child labour, Tanzania

When: The Virtual Event will take place on Friday 18 June 2021, 11:00 - 12:30 GMT

Who: The African Union Commission (AUC) Department of Health, Humanitarian Affairs & Social Development (HHS), the ILO and the UNICEF organize this event.
