4th SPECIALIZED TECHNICAL   COMMITTEE MEETING ON YOUTH, CULTURE AND SPORTS (STC-YCS–4)

INVITATION TO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA

What:            The African Union Commission, is organizing the Forth Extraordinary Session of the Specialized Technical Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports (STC-YCS-4) on the margins of the 13th Edition of the African Games in Accra, Ghana. The meeting will be held at the senior experts level and the ministerial level.

  • 8H30 am-12H30 (GMT+0) - Experts meeting
  • 14H30-17H30 (GMT+0)      - Ministerial session

WHERE:        Accra, Republic of Ghana (Movenpick Hotel)

OVERALL OBJECTIVE:

The main objective of the 4th Specialized Technical Committee Meeting on Youth, Culture and Sport Extra Ordinary Session (STC-YCS4) is to provide a common platform for Experts’ Senior Sports Officials and Ministers of Youth, Culture and Sport to deliberate on issues pertaining to the development of sport on the continent including the host country for the 14th Edition of the African Games 2027. 

Specific objectives:

The specific objectives of this STC-YCS4 Extra-Ordinary Session are to: 

  • Deliberate on the host country for the 14th Edition of African Games, 2027.   
  • Consider the Declaration of Accra as the African Sports City for 2024 - 2025 

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

The expected outcomes of the STC-YCS4 Extra-Ordinary Session include: 

  • Host country for the 14th Edition of African Games, 2027 endorsed; 
  • Roadmap for the planning of the 14th Edition of the African Games in 2027 discussed and endorsed;   
  • Accra endorsed as the African Sports City for 2024 – 2025.

PARTICIPANTS

The STC-YCS4 Extra-Ordinary Sessions will bring together Member States ministries responsible for Sport, Youth and Culture; African Union Sports Development Regions; Representatives from Regional Economic Communities (RECs); Officials from AUC and relevant Departments; Media representatives and others stakeholders.

Media representatives are invited to take part at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 4TH Extraordinary session of the STC-YCS4 on 9th March 2024 starting from 8:30am (GMT+0) in Movenpick Hotel.
