The Continental Framework (CF) on the Control and Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in Africa by 2030 is a comprehensive roadmap adopted by the African Union member states to address the significant burden of NTDs on the continent. Its overarching vision is to free Africa from all NTDs by 2030, aligning with global health targets and the Africa Health Strategy 2016-2030. The framework aims to guide a collaborative and coordinated effort across the continent to address NTDs through integrated strategies, including preventive practices, vector control, improved water, sanitation and hygiene, and innovative disease management approaches, with the goal of eliminating these diseases and improving the health and well-being of the African population. It also emphasizes the importance of community-based initiatives, strengthening national NTD programs, and mobilizing adequate domestic resources.

The framework also calls for enhanced collaboration and coordination among stakeholders, including governments, international organizations, research institutions, and the civil society. It highlights the need for innovative approaches, such as prevention, intensified disease management, vector control and chemotherapy, to accelerate the progress towards NTDs elimination. The Continental Framework serves as a guiding document for African countries to develop and implement comprehensive national NTD programs, ultimately improving the health and well-being of their populations and contributing to sustainable development across the continent in achievement of Goal Three of the African Union Agenda 2063.
