Introduction

The African Union Commission (AUC), in collaboration with the Government of Ethiopia, is pleased to announce the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), to be held in Addis Ababa from 8–10 September 2025, with pre-summit events scheduled for 5–7 September 2025.Under the summit theme, “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions and Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development’’, ACS2 will convene African Heads of State and Government, development partners, international organizations, private sector actors, academia, civil society, and  youth to advance collective climate solutions and unlock sustainable financing opportunities to address climate impacts and loss and damage across Africa.

As part of the Summit, the Africa Pavilion will serve as central platform to amplify African voices, showcase innovations and spotlight climate priorities, major achievements and initiatives led by the African continent and stakeholders.

To this end, the Content and Programming Committee invites interested institutions and organizations to submit concept notes to host side events at the Africa Pavillion. The events should align with the summit’s overarching theme and focus on Africa-led climate action.

Concept notes should include:

  • Title of the event
  • Objectives
  • Intended outcomes
  • Duration
  • Proposed speakers/panelists (ensuring gender and generational diversity)
  • Format (interactive elements, translation, hybrid/streaming options, etc.)

Preference will be given to events that:

  • Include an interactive or participatory format
  • Ensure gender and generational balance in speakers
  • Address inclusion of women, youth, and vulnerable groups
  • Plan for media visibility (press releases, social media, online streaming, etc.)
  • Include translation in AU official languages
  • Provide backup speakers to ensure continuity

Proposals should focus on at least one of the following thematic areas:

  • Nature-based and technology-driven solutions, including renewable energy and clean technology innovations
  • Green and Circular Economy
  • Just Transition and Decarbonization Pathways
  • Climate Mobility, Peace and Security Nexus
  • Climate Information Services and Early Warning Systems
  • Climate and Health
  • Green Minerals, Manufacturing, and Sustainable Industrialization
  • Sustainable Agriculture, Land Use, and Water and Ocean Governance
  • Sustainable Infrastructure and Urban Resilience
  • Natural Capital and Biodiversity
  • Adaptation and Resilience Resilience Strategies
  • Climate Finance, Carbon Markets, and Innovative Financing Mechanisms
