AUC Chairperson met with H.E. Sahle-Work Zewde, former President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Elder of the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN)
H.E. Sahle-Work Zewde, former President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Elder of the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN), this morning met with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. Their discussion underscored the imperative of advancing women’s leadership, empowerment, and gender equality, including in diplomacy, mediation, & peace processes.
The Chairperson reaffirmed his commitment to promoting women’s leadership across the AU Commission.
H.E. Ms. Sahle-Work Zewde congratulated the Chairperson on his leadership, notably his decision to support the appointment of women to the AU facilitation team on the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as the appointment of H.E. @Amb_Mulamula as the AU Special Envoy on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS).
