H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, received H.E. Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, Former President of the International Court of Justice & founding President of the African Institute of International Law (AIIL), at AU Headquarters.

Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation under the existing MoU, the Institute’s request for Specialised Agency status, & the establishment of an AU Fellowship Programme in African Union law & African public law.

The Chairperson welcomed AIIL’s academic progress, reaffirmed support for renewed partnership, underscored the strategic importance of advancing rules-based Pan-African integration grounded in international law & AU law.
