H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, warmly welcomes the landmark signing of the "Document of Principles: Roadmap for Ending the Transitional Period " concluded on June 16, 2026, by the leadership of Libya’s three primary political bodies: the House of Representatives, the Presidential Council, and the High Council of State.

The AUC Chairperson highly commends the statesmanship, mutual compromise, and constructive commitment demonstrated by their Excellencies Honourable Aguila Saleh, Dr. Mohamed Al-Menfi, and Dr. Mohamed Takala. Their joint decision to bridge institutional divisions underscores a shared determination to prioritize the national security, financial stability, and territorial integrity of the Libyan state above all other consideration.

He views this tripartite roadmap as a major breakthrough toward resolving the prolonged political transition in Libya. The Chairperson notes with great satisfaction that the agreement successfully capitalizes on the positive momentum established earlier this year through the adoption of an agreement to unify the national budget and the formal endorsement of the National Reconciliation Charter facilitated by the African Union.

In this regard, the Chairperson of the Commission renews the constant and unwavering support of the African Union to the authorities, while urging stakeholders to engage fully and in good faith in the implementation of this roadmap aimed at bringing an end to the current political situation in Libya, with a view to fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of the Libyan people for a stable, prosperous, and democratic State.
