The Citizens & Diaspora Directorate (CIDO)
The Citizens & Diaspora Directorate (CIDO) is the department responsible for leading the AU’s The engagement with non-state actors through Diaspora & Civil Society Engagement. It works closely with the AU Mission Offices to engage with the diaspora and engages with civil society through the work of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC)
CIOD has a unit that serves as the Secretariat for ECOSOCC) an advisory organ of the AU that provides African civil society organisations (CSOs) with a platform to directly influence AU decision-making processes and institutions
