What:

The African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) and the International Committe of the Red  Cross (ICRC) will hold a  joint  press conference after  a briefing by the ICRC to the AU PSC on the Humanitarian Situation in Armed Conflicts and other situations of violence in Africa

 

When:

Wednesday, 19 October 2016, at 13:00Hrs

African Union Headquarters, Plenary Hall, Old Conference Building

 

 

Who:

The African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security, Amb. Smail Chergui and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer

 

Why:

To reflect on the implementation of the Kampala Convention: ‘’the African Union Convention for the Protection and Assistance of Internally Displaced Persons in Africa’’. The press briefing will also focus on the humanitarian situation in South Sudan, as well as the situation in Nigeria and Lake Chad.
