Workshop under the Theme “Africa-Arab Partnership Challenges and Prospective”

07 NOV 2016, Safir Hotel , Cairo, Egypt: within the Framework of the popularization of the 4th Africa-Arab Summit under the theme “ Together for Sustainable Development and Economic Cooperation to be held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea from 17-23 November 2016. The African Union Permanent Delegation to the League of Arab States in collaboration with the African- Arab Research Center (AARC) in Cairo organized one day Workshop under the theme “Africa-Arab Partnership Challenges and Prospective”. The aim of the two sessions Workshop was to enlighten the programs and the plans of the Summit to numbers of Professors, Researchers, and Diplomats from African Embassies, Representatives from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Think Tank, Civil Society organization and Media Outlet in Cairo, Egypt. Six papers were presented at the workshop under the following titles: 1- The concept and patterns of the partnership in development. 2- Africa-Arab partnership the performance and evaluation. 3- Africa-Arab partnership from where and to where. 4- Political conflicts for internal or external reasons and the possibilities of the development of the partnership in addressing them to obtain political and social peace and security. 5- The unity experience in the Arab Region and the African continent: Problems and issues. 6- The Cultural and social interaction on the level of the Africa-Arab relations. At the opening session H.E Ambassador BOUZAHER gave overview about the history and the way forward of the Africa-Arab Partnership, the meeting agreed to adopt his paper as one of the document of the workshop due to the valuable information presented on it. Also, the president of the Center Prof.Helmi Saharawi and Mrs.Shahida AlBAZ, the Director of the Center addressed the opening session along with H.E Ambassador BOUZAHER, the Head of the African Union Permanent Delegation to the League of Arab States. The debate: - the discussion reviewed the Partnership Journey in light with the principles and objectives and steps made in terms of the implementation of the Decisions and Programs of Action Plan adopted by the two summits of Sirte, (2010) and Kuwait Summit (2013) . In conclusion, the Forum expressed optimism regarding the comprehensive vision of cooperation which will be presented to the 4th summit for approval which includes Economic, Finance, Trade, Agriculture and food security and Social Affairs Sectors. Also expressed the need to provide successful Mechanisms for the Financing of the Joint projects in accordance with its timetables. At the End of the Workshop the meeting adopted the Report which includes many recommendations to be presented to the policy makers in the two Organizations.
