Addis Ababa 10 December 2010 - African Ministers of Economy and Finance will from 16 to 17 December 2010, converge in the capital city of Cameroon, Yaoundé, within the framework of an Extraordinary Conference of African Ministers of Economy and Finance (CAMEF) organised by the Department of Economic Affairs of the African Union Commission (AUC).

Meanwhile, the Conference of Ministers will be preceded by a meeting of economic and financial, and legal experts scheduled to take place from 13 to 15 December 2010.

The CAMEF meeting is aimed at reviewing the recommendations of the study on Alternative Sources of Financing the African Union and the Protocol and Statute establishing the African Monetary Fund (AMF) which will be submitted to the African Union Summit in January 2011 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for adoption.

Participants will be drawn from AU Member States Ministries of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and Legal Affairs, regional economic communities, and regional development and investment banks. Other participants will be from the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, United Nations Development Programme, African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Investment Bank, and Islamic Development Bank.
