Addis Ababa, 29 January 2018– Amb Dr. Namira Negm, the Legal Counsel of the African Union welcomed Prof Ibrahim Ghandour, Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Sudan, at African Union Headquarters on the Margins of the 30th AU Summit to the signing of the Legal Instruments by the Government of Sudan.

The Government of Sudan signed the following legal instruments:

Agreement for the Establishment of the African Risk Capacity (ARC) Agency;
Protocol to the Constitutive Act of the African Union relating to the Pan-African Parliament;
Statute of the African Minerals Development Centre.

The Legal Counsel expressed her appreciation for the commitment of the Government of Sudan to adhere regularly to the AU legal instruments. She stated that the African Union seeks to achieve its policy goals through the adoption of treaties and the realization of these goals requires that the treaties be signed, ratified and implemented by the Member States.
