The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, this afternoon bade farewell to H.E. Amb. Hirut Zemene, Permanent Representative of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the African Union, on the completion of her tour of duty.

The Chairperson expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Hirut for her active & constructive engagement in the work of the Union, as well as for Ethiopia’s continued commitment to continental peace, regional integration & Africa’s development agenda.

Ambassador Hirut expressed appreciation for the Chairperson’s leadership & reaffirmed Ethiopia’s continued support for the objectives & priorities of the African Union. The exchanges also touched on continental development priorities & the role of the private sector in Africa’s transformation agenda.

The Chairperson wished Ambassador Hirut every success in her future endeavours & expressed his readiness to continue working closely with Ethiopia & with her successor in advancing the shared aspirations of the continent.
