The Office of the Legal Counsel of the African Union Convenes Expert Workshop on Universal Jurisdiction
New York, 8th August 2019 – The Office of the Legal Counsel of the African Union held a workshop with the Legal Advisors of the African Group Members of the United Nations in New York to discuss the scope and application of the principle of Universal Jurisdiction, which is on the Agenda of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) since it’s 64th Session.
Monitoring and Evaluation of Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis control activities in Zambia, 10- 14 June 2019
Within the framework of PATTEC initiative the PATTEC Coordination Office is mandated to monitor and evaluate the implementation progress made by member states towards tsetse and trypanosomiasis control and eradication. In line with this, a situation analysis mission to evaluate the implementation of tsetse and trypanosomiasis control interventions comprising Dr. Gift Wiseman Wanda, Acting Coordinator of the Pan African Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis (T&T) Eradication Campaign (PATTEC), and Mr Girma Urgeacha, GIS database specialist was undertaken to Zambia from 10 to 14 June 2019.
PATTEC Coordination Office conducted a consultative meeting with representatives of EAC member states and T&T experts, 4- 6 March 2019
The PATTEC Coordination Office in collaboration with East African Communities (EAC) organized a consultative meeting with representatives of five EAC member states at EAC premises, Arusha, Tanzania on 4 – 6 March 2019. The regional consultative meeting brought together four Tsetse and Trypanosomosis experts from member states and ICIPE-Kenya, staff of AU-PATTEC and EAC, Directors of Veterinary Services and PATTEC Coordinators from the region including Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan and Uganda.
Regional training workshop on Application of Open Source Geographic Information System (GIS) in Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis projects, Addis Ababa, 24- 28 June 2019
AU-PATTEC organized a regional training workshop for French speaking central Africa countries on application of open source GIS in Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis projects in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the AU HQs, from 24- 28 June 2019. The training workshop was attended by participants (data management officers) from Angola, Cameroon, Central Africa, Chad, DRC, Congo-Brazaville, Ethiopia and Gabon who are currently responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing and map preparation of T&T data for PATTEC projects.
