BACKGROUND

The 2nd edition of the African Union’s flagship economic report Africa’s Development Dynamics 2019 explores public policies that can help transform Africa’s production systems. It proposes decisive actions to help firms transform their production structure to make the most of opportunities such as the recently launched African Continental Free Trade Area Africa (AfCFTA).

Drawing on the most recent available statistics, this analysis aims to help African leaders reach the targets of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 at the continental, regional, and national levels. This volume also feeds into a policy debate between African Union’s nations, citizens, entrepreneurs and researchers. It aims to be part of a renewed international co-operation between countries and regions focused on mutual learning and the preservation of common goods.

The objective of this High Level Policy dialogue on the upcoming Africa’s Development Dynamics report will be to engage with High level policymakers and private sector actors to discuss the importance of productive transformation for the development of African economies.

The High-Level Policy Dialogue will be attended by the following speakers:
•    H.E. Alpha Condé, President, Republic of Guinea
•    H.E. Faure Gnassingbé, President, Republic of Togo
•    H.E. Prof Victor Harison, Commissioner for Economic Affairs, AUC
