WHAT: A press briefing to provide information to the media on the ongoing coronavirus disease outbreak. What is the virus and how is it transmitted? What is Africa CDC doing with Member States on preparedness and how can one avoid being infected?

Background Information
The ongoing outbreak of Coronavirus disease, which originated from China, is spreading very fast. Cases have been detected in some countries, including USA, France, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, South Korea, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. This briefing will present a description of the virus disease, what Africa CDC is doing with Member States on preparedness and general information on how to avoid being infected.

Journalists are invited to attend and cover the press briefing at the African Union Headquarters on Tuesday, 28 January 2020, at 11.00 am.
