BACKGROUND:
The establishment of The Great Museum of Africa (GMA) was inspired by aspiration 05 of Agenda 2063 and by the Charter for African Cultural Renaissance of 2006. As a Flagship Project of the African Union's continental blueprint, the GMA is planned to launch in 2023, as part of the Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan of Agenda 2063.
The Museum of Africa Permanent Memorial of Slave Trade will showcase, protect and promote the rich cultural heritage of the continent.
The Museum will be hosted by the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in Algiers, on behalf of the continent.
