Background information.

The main objective of the Boma is to assemble Africa’s decision makers across politics, business, technology and the technocracy to commit to major actions to accelerate Africa’s attainment of the Agenda 2063 goals of unity and continental prosperity, thereby positioning Africa as a credible global force for good in the 21st Century.

The specific objectives of the Boma will be to:

  1. Commit major international and continental partners to the Africa Hub initiative, which is interlinking major logistics operators, technology platform providers, modern retail/market access networks and brand power enablers to work in harmony to provide a massive boost to the continent’s SMEs and startups.
  2. Discuss the ongoing Energy Transition (including the role of Africa’s green minerals) and the next phase of the Digital Convergence (the spear-tip of the 4th Industrial Revolution) as contexts of Africa’s geopolitical emergence.
  3. Activate a post-pandemic digital health infrastructure that will transform public health in Africa and fortify the continent against future pandemics.
  4. Hear from designers of innovative global and continental funds and other financial instruments about how African countries can practically contend with the looming threat of a global recession.
  5. Consider regional strategy in the face of cascading crises emanating from the Ukraine conflict and the resulting Eurasian crisis.

The Event will have four major outcomes:

  1. A concrete platform for SMEs and startups around Africa to acquire a trusted business identity and benefit from advanced infrastructure for expanding their operations and even possibly scale up to other African countries.
  2. A practical framework and set of tangible systems for African countries to cooperate on innovative solutions to guard their populations against public health threats and future pandemics.
  3. A clear commitment to link private investments to public policy programs on climate-smart solutions and digital transformation utilizing innovative mechanisms such as the AU 4D and Trillion Dollar Frameworks.
  4. A set of financial innovation blueprints that African governments can rely upon to avert the effects of the ongoing global financial and economic downturn and supply chain crunch.
