Official Launch Ceremony of the 2nd AFROMADRID 2025 World Conference

Amb. Amr Aljowaily Director of the Citizens and Diaspora Directorate (CIDO) of the African Union Commission delivered a video recorded message to the Official Launch Ceremony of the 2nd AFROMADRID 2025 World Conference held on June 11th at 12:00 PM in the Assembly Hall of the Ministry of Equality of the Kingdom of Spain.

In his remarks, Aljowaily stressed that the Conference should be more than ceremonial—it should be a call to action in line with the African Union Theme of the Year “Justice for Africans and Peoples of African Descent through Reparations”. He highlighted that the legacy of the African continent is global, and that the people of African descent are central to global story. Making reference to the recent UN Permanent Forum on People of African Descent, held in New York this April, he reiterated the call for for reparatory justice, institutional transformation, and new technologies free from racial bias. “These calls are necessary. And they are overdue”, he stressed.

The ceremony brought together institutional representatives, members of civil society, community leaders, and international organizations committed to equality, racial justice, and the 2030 Agenda.
