The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, bid farewell to H.E. Mr. Michael Upton, Ambassador of New Zealand to Ethiopia and the African Union, commending his constructive engagement in strengthening AU–New Zealand relations and advancing shared commitments to multilateralism, peace, and development.

H.E. Youssouf welcomed New Zealand’s partnership with the African Union, including its consistent engagement with the Commission and support for African-led approaches to peace and security and development.

The Chairperson conveyed his appreciation to Ambassador Upton for his service and wished him success in his future endeavours and reaffirmed the importance of continued AU–New Zealand cooperation in support of shared priorities.
