The New Partnership for Africa's Development Coordination (NEPAD)

The New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Coordination Unit was established within the Office of the President to serve as an interface between the AU Commission and the NEPAD Planning and Coordination Agency (APCN). Its mission is to ensure effective coordination, collaboration and synergy between the AU Commission, the NEPAD Agency and the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) by supporting the Chairperson of the Commission in his oversight role of the NEPAD Agency.

The main focus of the Unit is on coordinating the ongoing process of integrating NEPAD into African structures and processes; transforming NEPAD into the African Union Development Agency (AUDA); monitoring the implementation of the decisions of the AU Assembly on NEPAD and its programmes, and advising on all matters relating to NEPAD. In addition, the Unit provides secretariat services to the Committee of Permanent Representatives.
