The First extra-ordinary meeting of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee on Transport, Intercontinental and Interregional Infrastructures, Energy and Tourism (STC-TTIIET) kicks off virtually on Monday under the theme “Africa’s Infrastructure Priorities 2021-2020”
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) launched a new partnership initiative to strengthen the capacity of Africa CDC to prepare for and respond to public health threats in Africa. The four-year project, ‘EU for health security in Africa: European CDC for Africa CDC', funded by the EU, will also facilitate harmonised surveillance and disease intelligence, and support the implementation of the public health workforce strategy of Africa CDC.
4 September 2020, Addis Ababa:The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU), H.E Moussa Faki Mahamat, commends the Sudanese Transitional Government led by H.E. Prime Minister of the Republic of Sudan, Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North led by Mr. Abdalaziz Adam Alhilu, for signing the Principles outlined in the Joint Agreement, on 3 September 2020 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The African Union has created an African Union COVID-19 Response Fund with the aim of strengthening the continental response to COVID-19 and mitigate its socio economic and humanitarian impact on African populations. The fund was established by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Mr Moussa Faki Mahamat on 26 March 2020.
