What: Opening session of the 30th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC)

When: Sunday 7 June 2015, at 10:00

Where: OR Tambo Building, South Africa

Why: The PRC will discuss items on the agenda in preparation for the 25th AU Summit. Their decisions will be submitted to the Executive Council for further consideration and/ or adoption. The opening session of the PRC will include among others, a speech by the Chair of the PRC, Ambassador Albert R. Chimbindi, and a welcome remark by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, followed by a group photo of Ambassadors with Commission Members. The theme for the AU summits this year is “Year of Women’s Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063”.

Who: The meeting will be attended by members of the Permanent Representatives Committee, who are their countries’ permanent representatives to the African Union as well as other Plenipotentiaries of member states. The PRC is charged with the responsibility of preparing the work of the Executive Council and acting on the Executive Council’s instructions.

Media personnel are invited to cover the official opening ceremony starting at 10:00.
