As the fight to end COVID19 continues, AU scales up COVID 19 fund raising and communication
African artists ‘Stand Together’ in song to raise funds for COVID19 response
The African Union’s COVID19 Response Fund will benefit from funds raised from the sales of a song by African artists that aims to raise awareness on the importance of collective action to curb the spread of COVID-19. The “Stand Together” is a solidarity anthem featuring some of Africa’s biggest music stars.

African Union reached more than 800 million people with COVID19 messages
As part of its COVID19 communication activities, the African Union, through the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) aired the Africa, Ubuntu Stronger Together TV commercial during prime time viewing on the TV and digital platforms of three of the world’s biggest broadcasters, reaching an audience of over 800 million viewers in Africa and internationally. The production of the TV commercial was supported by the Ecobank Foundation.
The three broadcasters are BBC Global News, CNN International and Euro news/Africa. They donated free airtime worth up to US$50 million to public health bodies for the promotion of messages to combat the global coronavirus health crisis. This was the first time that the three broadcasters came together for a joint initiative, highlighting how important it is to combine forces in the global effort to bring vital health information to people across the globe. #AfricaResponds #Covid19
