Since the beginning of this year, 108,382 cases (78,109 confirmed; 30,273 suspected) and 2,083 deaths (CFR: 1.9%) of cholera have been reported from 15 African Union (AU) Member States (MS) (Figure 1). These MS include Burundi (457 cases; 7 deaths), Cameroon (1,938; 312), Democratic Republic of Congo [DRC (10,031; 75)], Eswatini (2; 0), Ethiopia (245; 11), Kenya (7,459; 122), Malawi (42,724; 1,253), Mozambique (31,122; 134), Nigeria (1,336, 79), Somalia (8,987; 27), South Africa (145; 8), South Sudan (1,455; 2), Tanzania (87; 3), Zambia (688; 13) and Zimbabwe (1711; 37).

Since the last update (30 April 2023) a total of 14,433 new cases (3,700 confirmed; 10,733 suspected and 125 deaths (CFR: 0.9%) were reported from 11 AU MS: Burundi [(332 cases; 6 death(s)], DRC (2411, 25), Kenya (1,928; 36), Malawi (536; 13), Mozambique (2,290; 5), Somalia (4,971; 10), South Africa (134 ; 7), South Sudan (382; 0), Tanzania (5; 0), Zambia (288; 5) and Zimbabwe (1,156; 18).
