We, Ministers, heads and members of country delegations, representatives of African Union and United Nations agencies, development partners, international and regional organizations, civil society organizations, academia and the teaching profession, youth and students, the private sector, and foundations, have convened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 26 to 28 November, for the Continental Conference on Transforming Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in Africa. This conference, organized by the African Union Commission and UNESCO, in collaboration with continental and international partners, builds upon the African Union's Theme of the Year on Education.

Together, we reaffirm education as an inalienable human right and a public good. Governments and States have a solemn duty to respect, protect, and fulfill this right. We pledge to ensure inclusive, equitable, quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.

We affirm the critical role of STEM education, innovation, research, and employment in achieving the ambitious goals outlined in the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA) 2026-2035, the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA) 2034, the Continental Artificial Intelligence Strategy, UNESCO Priority Africa, and the Sustainable Development Goals, all of which align with AU Agenda 2063. This commitment echoes the 'Pact for the Future,' emphasizing the power of science, technology, and innovation to bridge divides, foster sustainability, and ensure a future where no one is left behind.

STEM is a powerful enabler and driver of progress in addressing critical challenges such as poverty, climate change, food security, healthcare access, and sustainable development across Africa. It can also advance economic growth through innovation-driven industries, research and development (R&D), entrepreneurship and job creation and build a generation of responsible citizens who will use STEM ethically.

We call upon all stakeholders to collaborate and leverage the transformative power of STEM to realize the aspirations of AU Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

We commit to undertaking the following actions to unlock the transformative power of STEM in Africa:
