The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received the credentials of Mr. Bruce Lorenz Biber, Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to the African Union.

The Chairperson welcomed Mr. Biber and commended the ICRC’s longstanding cooperation with the African Union, particularly in promoting respect for international humanitarian law, the protection of civilians, and humanitarian access. Mr. Biber also highlighted the Global IHL Initiative to strengthen political commitment to international humanitarian law. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in support of these shared objectives.
