THE 32ND COMMEMORATION OF THE 1994 GENOCIDE AGAINST THE TUTSI IN RWANDA KWIBUKA32
What: The African Union Commission (AUC), through the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS), in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in Ethiopia and Permanent Mission to the African Union, will organize Kwibuka 32, marking the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. The annual commemoration provides an opportunity to honor the memory of over one million Tutsi killed, stand in solidarity with survivors, and reaffirm Africa’s collective commitment to preventing genocide, promoting unity, and safeguarding human rights. The program will include:

a Walk to Remember,

lighting of the Flame of Remembrance,

launch of the AU Human Rights Virtual Memorial,
-
introduction of the component of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tusti in Rwanda and messages of reflection from AU officials and invited guests.
When: Monday, 7 April 2026, starting from 8:30 AM (EAT)
