1. Skill Development: The media fellowship provides a structured environment for enhancing your skills and knowledge in journalism and media. Through training, mentorship, and hands-on experiences, you can sharpen your storytelling abilities, learn new techniques, and gain expertise in utilizing emerging technologies and digital media platforms.

2. Networking and Collaboration: The fellowship provides a platform to connect and collaborate with like-minded professionals, including journalists, content creators, industry experts, and mentors.

3. Access to Resources: The programme provides access to resources, tools, and equipment and contact to AU policymakers to individual journalists or content creators. This can include state-of-the-art technology, research materials, and platforms for publishing or broadcasting your work.

The 12 months long fellowship will begin in each year in August. The selected fellows will be invited to attend virtual induction session, that will be followed by a three-day media lab session to complete pitches before the fellows embark on the first study tour in September/ October and will also benefit from an in-person training and access to AU policymakers.

Between Novemeber and January, fellows are expected to work on their pitch stories alongside participating in mandatory online certified trainings (Self-selection) and master classes from industry experts. (This is subject to change every year)

In February, the fellows attend the second study tour, they will benefit from an in-person training and one – one mentorship in support to pitch stories and access to AU policymakers.

Between March and May fellows are expected to continue working on their pitch stories and also participate in mandatory online certified training (Self-selection) and master classes from industry experts.

In June- July, the fellows will embark on their last and final study tour and continue to benefit from additional in-person training and best practice sessions.

To conclude the Fellowship, In August the closing will formally end the fellowship, Fellow will present final stories and receive certificates.
