      Provision Of Services To The African Union Medical Services On Part-Time Basis

      1. BACKGROUND

      The African Union, established as a unique Pan African continental body, is charged with spearheading Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development by promoting unity, solidarity, cohesion, and cooperation among the peoples of Africa and African States as well as developing a New Partnership Worldwide. Its Headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

      The Medical and Health Services Directorate (MHSD) is one the directorates under the Cabinet of the Deputy Chairperson that provides medical care to AUC staff members and their dependents; the AU Member State Diplomatic Corps and their dependents; and delegates and partners attending AU official meetings. The directorate also oversees medical plans and insurances for the Commission, AU Organs and Regional and Representational Offices, to participants in AU conferences, meetings, and summits.

      In achieving its mandate, the directorate invites expression of interest from the following category of medical practitioners who are interested to work on part time consultancy basis at the stated rate per hour in the AU Medical Center.

      4. Clinical Psychologist/Counsellor - Consultant
      5. Dental Surgeon – Consultant
      6. Dietician-Nutritionist Consultant
      7. Disease Prevention and Control Consultant
      8. Ear Nose and Throat Specialist
      9. Emergency/ Duty Physician
      10. Endocrinologist
      11. Family Medicine Physician
      12. General Medical Practitioner
      13. General Surgeon
      14. Internal Medicine Specialist
      15. Medical Laboratory Technician
      16. Medical Radiology Technician
      17. Nursing Practitioner I
      18. Nursing Practitioner II
      19. Obstetrician/ Gynaecologist
      20. Ophthalmologist
      21. Paediatrician
      22. Physiotherapist
      23. Radiologist
      24. Wellness Coach

      The detail job description and the required qualification and experience is provided in a file attached herewith.

      1. RESPONSE TO THE CALL

      Interested applicants are requested to submit the following documents for AUC’s consideration:

      • Detailed Curriculum Vitae of the Consultants
      • Relevant professional work experience related to the assignment.
      • Contact details of at least three organizations previously worked for background and check reference purposes.
      1. EVALUATION CRITERIA

      For evaluation of the expressions of interest will be based on the following criteria:

      1. General academic qualification and relevant professional training and certification (35 points);
      2. Strength of relevant experience to the assignment (60 points)
      3. Language (5 points): 

      One AU language

      Two AU Languages

      More than three AU Languages

      Successful applicants will be issued with a 2 years’ framework contract and will be contacted for assignment as and when a need arise within the non-negotiable rate. Applicants should express their readiness to work night shift, week-ends and public holidays if the assignment so require.
