Chairperson received H.E. Ahmed ATTAF, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssef, received in audience H.E. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. The Minister conveyed renewed congratulations from the President, H.E. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his commitment to support the Chairperson in the conduct of the African Union Commission’s affairs.

The discussions primarily focused on the need to strengthen the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to boost intra-African trade and foster greater continental solidarity.

They further highlighted the humanitarian urgency resulting from the security deterioration in conflict-ridden countries and pledged to work toward the restoration of constitutional order, the ultimate step marking the end of the transition process. The two leaders stressed that foreign initiatives can only achieve optimal effectiveness if they are integrated into the coordination ensured by the African Union.
